Jamie Waldron is a British Army veteran who served for 24 years before co-founding Iron Regiment. He leads the historical direction of The Regimental Record, with particular interest in battlefield systems, campaign context, command decisions and the gap between the evidence and the simplified version of a battle that is often repeated later.

Editorial approach

Jamie’s military background shapes the questions Iron Regiment asks of historical sources: what could soldiers see, how were formations meant to work, what did terrain allow, how did command and communications affect the fight, and where does later storytelling become more certain than the evidence deserves?

The aim is not to force modern military experience onto earlier warfare. It is to use it as a reason to look harder at practical problems while keeping the historical evidence in charge.
