Editorial Team & Research Standards

Iron Regiment is a veteran-owned military-history project built by former British Army servicemen Jamie Waldron and Ryan Small. The Regimental Record exists to put the history before the product.

Jamie Waldron — Co-Founder & Editorial Lead

Jamie Waldron served for 24 years in the British Army. At Iron Regiment he leads the historical direction of the Regimental Record, with particular attention to military context, source quality and the difference between what the evidence shows and what later retellings claim.

Ryan Small — Co-Founder

Ryan Small is a former British Army serviceman and co-founder of Iron Regiment. He helps shape the project’s veteran-led identity and its approach to military history.

How we research

  • History first. Articles are written as historical resources first; commercial links come afterwards.
  • Sources matter. We favour primary material, museums, heritage bodies, archives and established historical scholarship.
  • Uncertainty is stated. Where numbers, motives or events are disputed, we say so rather than turn an interpretation into a fact.
  • Context matters. Battles are placed inside the campaign, politics, terrain, command structure and military system that produced them.
  • Corrections are welcome. If stronger evidence changes an interpretation, the record should change with it.

The Regimental Record

The Regimental Record covers military history from the Ancient World through the nineteenth century, including Roman Britain, 1066, medieval warfare, the English Civil War, the Napoleonic Wars and other campaigns represented across Iron Regiment.
