The Battle of Stamford Bridge 1066 — On 25 September 1066 King Harold Godwinson surprised and defeated the invading army of Harald Hardrada and Tostig Godwinson at Stamford Bridge in Yorkshire.

History behind the design

Hardrada and Tostig were killed. Harold then had to march south to face William of Normandy, fighting at Hastings just nineteen days later.
